The Real Cost of Drunk Driving — and How CADD Helps

Drunk driving is a choice that can change lives in one moment. At Daily Bread Distribution Center, we believe everyone in our Orlando community deserves to get home safe.

Why Drunk Driving Hurts All of Us

When someone drives after drinking, they put more than themselves at risk. They put families, neighbors, and strangers in danger too.

Alcohol slows down your body and your mind. It makes it harder to see clearly, react fast, or make good choices. A driver may feel "fine," but their reflexes are not.

Here in Central Florida, our roads stay busy day and night. One impaired driver can change many lives in a single second. That is why prevention matters so much.

The good news? Drunk driving can be stopped before it starts. With a little planning and care, you can keep yourself and others safe.

Simple Ways to Stay Safe

You do not need a perfect plan. You just need a plan. Here are some easy steps you can take:

  • Pick your ride before you go out. Choose a sober driver, or plan to use a rideshare or taxi.
  • Keep some cash or an app ready. That way, getting a safe ride is never hard.
  • Hold the keys for a friend. If someone has been drinking, offer to drive or help them find a ride.
  • Stay the night if you need to. Sometimes the safest choice is not driving at all.
  • Speak up kindly. It can feel awkward, but a gentle word can save a life.

Small steps like these add up. When you make a plan, you protect yourself and everyone around you.

What Is CADD?

CADD is our new driver-safety program here at Daily Bread Distribution Center. The name stands for our promise: to help our community stand against drunk driving.

CADD is built on care and respect. We do not want to scare you or judge you. We want to walk with you and share real tools you can use.

Through CADD, you can learn:

  • How alcohol affects your driving
  • How to make a safe-ride plan
  • How to help a friend who has been drinking
  • How to talk to your kids and teens about smart choices

We keep our classes warm and easy to follow. You will leave knowing more, and feeling ready to make safer choices on the road.

CADD is free, just like our food and our job-skills classes. We believe safety should be open to everyone, no matter your income or background.

You Can Make a Difference

You do not have to be an expert to help prevent drunk driving. You just have to care. And by reading this, you already do.

Maybe you will be the friend who offers a ride. Maybe you will be the parent who starts an honest talk at home. Maybe you will be the driver who always plans ahead.

Each choice you make sends a message to your family and your neighbors. Safe roads start with people like you.

Together, we can help more people in Orlando get home safe to the ones they love.
